But somebody has to step in and talk about what happens after the money changes hands…and that’s just what Little Mouse is doing.

As you probably know, the letters ’pdf’ in Adobe’s popular file extension stand for ‘Portable Document Format.’ This means that any file converted to the .pdf format can be read on almost any computer or portable device, provided it is equipped with a .pdf reader. Some devices, such as the iPhone, can read .pdf files natively and do not require the download of any special software apps. Further, Adobe provides a free .pdf reader that functions on almost every home computer on the market today, making color eBooks produced in this format arguably the most easily accessible eBooks in existence.

Little Mouse Learns will be available free online in a WordPress reader for a limited time (yes, with cool page-turning effects), however, when you purchase the eBook for yourself, you will be purchasing the story in the .pdf file format which will enable you to read the book on your home computer and transfer the book to another .pdf capable device of your choosing. Most other readers are not this versatile – and that’s the bottom line reason we’re going with .pdf.

Incidentally, Velocity Micro is coming out with a new tablet that looks to rival the full color eReader capability of Apple’s iPad, with .pdf compatibility built in. The iPad also has the ability to view .pdf files through its email application, but has eReader apps available that seem to do a better job.
